Frank Armich Jr. has had a longstanding and warm relationship with the Wickanininnish Inn and participates annually in the art show that is part of the inn’s New Year’s Eve Gala. His work graces the inn throughout the year.

About the Artist

Frank Armich Jr. apprenticed in his father’s woodworking business as a child and recalls the family visiting Tofino when the road from his home in Port Alberni was much more of an adventure.

Frank’s father, Frank Armich Sr,. had been a faller and discovered treasured burls the logging companies would leave behind. Frank explains the extraordinary length of time and special conditions needed for burls to age before they can be carved, and the techniques he learned from his father to bring out their personality.
