This heritage tour is a joint initiative between Tofino Arts Council and Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum. The content is based on Historic Tofino: a walking tour by Adrienne Mason. The kernel of this book began as a brochure, A Walk in Time, produced by Tofino’s Community Mapping Project in 1996. Jan Brubacher and Jennifer Steven researched and wrote the original brochure. The written content relies on interviews and historical research by author Adrienne Mason.
The audio interviews, which will be live in mid-January 2023, were conducted by Ava Hansen, then Executive Director of Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum, which also provided project support.
We gratefully acknowledge support from Clayoquot Biosphere Trust’s Arts & Culture grant, Tofino Tourism, Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum, and Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund, for support of the overall initiative of the Tofino Arts & Culture Walk.
Limited public parking is available in the public lot next to Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum downtown and at Tofino Community Hall. Please stop in to the museum to say hello and learn more about the history of the area. The museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
