To visit Freedom Cove, you can charter a tour via Browning Pass Charters. The boat docks at the fuel dock (Method Marine). To continue this tour, walk west along Main Street to Tofino Sea Kayaking.

“Our whole place is an installation art piece so we work together equally on that,” explains Wayne Adams, who was inspired by the Bower Bird which creates beautiful bowers to attract its mate.

Freedom Cove is an oasis for artists Wayne Adams and Catherine King. This living art installation is a sustainable man-made island built off-the-grid and constantly evolving.

The island consists of a dozen platforms that include an art gallery, an art studio, a dance floor, greenhouses and bountiful gardens, a fire-pit, and even a manmade beach.

This peaceful cove is a constant source of inspiration for this artist couple and for their lucky visitors, including writers and documentary filmmakers who have chronicled their unique way of life. Every year, they host visitors from around the world who arrange to journey here via Browning Pass Charters.

In their joint interview, Wayne Adams and Catherine King share more about their multi-disciplinary art practice and how this unique art installation got started and continues to grow and thrive.
