Driftwood Shelter (removed)

To continue the MUP art walk, continue towards North Chesterman Beach and Henry Nolla’s historic Carving Shed next to the Wickaninnish Inn.

This conversation with Jan Janzen was recorded at the Live to Surf Plaza where the driftwood shelter Jan built once sat between Wildside Grill and Chocolate Tofino. People enjoyed this inventive and sustainable shelter while savouring their meal or ice cream. Crows would dart in and out scouting for crumbs and occasionally even steal a treat right out of someone’s hands.

As Janzen explains, “Nature is always going to provide some kind of magical pieces” for artistic use.
