Public Art

Public art operates in a liminal space engaging the viewer in conversation with the work, with the artist, and with the environment it is designed for. Tofino Arts & Culture Walks invite you to engage with public art in person or virtually and to enjoy an in-depth conversation with each of these local or regional artists via the audio tour.

Clayoquot Heritage and Culture.

Adapted from A Walk in Time: A Guide to Tofino’s Main Street, with permission from author Adrienne Mason, this heritage tour includes First Nations history in the area, age-old transport routes, the historic community here, and stories of people who’ve come to the end of the road and made Tofino the place to live out their wildest imaginings.

About Tofino

Tofino, traditionally known as Načiks (pronounced Na-chiks) is the traditional territory of Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation and within Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks. It is bordered to the north by the traditional territory of Ahousaht and Hesquiaht First Nations. Tofino is a truly special place that has been a source of inspiration for artists in all media, as well as writers, musicians, and more.
